On 11^th April 2015 MOHAN Foundation organised an interactive session with the staff nwebsurses at Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Specialty Hospital, Chennai. The programme was organised with full motivation and support of Dr. Karthikeyan Hand  and  Reconstructive Surgeon. The aim of the programme is to start Organ and Tissue donation in their hospital. 

The  2 hour programme started with a welcome address given by Mr. Jeyabal Transplant coordinator followed by Dr. Karthikeyan's   brief introduction about the programme during his talk he mentioned about the important of transplant and the concept of organ donation. 

 

Ms. Kavitha, Marketing coordinator did a warm up session for the nurses to make them actively participate in the session.

Early Identification of the potential donor

Different between natural death, coma and brain death

Importance of donor card, helpline number and website

 

A Brain Stem Death an educational film was played for the nurses as a additional knowledge to understand the concept better. Ms. Kavitha explained the relationship between the tests and the cranial nerve functioning  during the film. 

 

Dr. R. Krishna Moorthy SIMS hospital Chennai. spoke on the transplants in the early period,  he also mentioned that the concept of transplantation and organ donation is not new to our country only thing is there is lack of awareness about the concept among the stakeholders. He briefed about the advantages in the hand transplant which gives new hope and life to the recipient he also covered the following points

Dr. R. Krishna Moorthy and Dr. Karthikeyan was felicitated by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Manager for the support and motivation given by them for the programme.
