It was organized by MOHAN Foundation in collaboration with ZCCK (Zonal Coordination Committee of Karnataka for Transplantation). There were 20 participants from hospitals in Bengaluru, Tamil Nadu (Chennai, Thanjavur and Salem) and Delhi.

At the inaugural function, Dr. N.K. Venkataramana, Vice Chairman and Chief Neurosurgeon, BGS Global Hospitals, said that the participants must have done some “punya” to have got the opportunity to attend this training programme! Dr. Mathew Jacob, Senior Consultant - Hepatobiliary and Transplantation and Dr. Mala Thayumanavan, Chief Nursing Officer, BGS Global Hospitals, Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram, Country Director, and Dr. Sumana Navin, Course Director, MOHAN Foundation were also present.

The faculty comprised doctors and transplant coordinators from BGS Global Hospitals, Victoria Hospital, MOHAN Foundation, ZCCK, and Nayana Jyothi.

It was an enthusiastic and lively group of participants that was not afraid to ask tough questions of the faculty! Ms. Shruthi J., ICU Staff Nurse from Victoria Hospital had a unique way of showing her appreciation for the transplant coordinators from MOHAN Foundation – Mr. K. Prakash and Ms. Akshatha. She had fashioned crowns for them and they were felicitated as ‘Angels of Organ Donation’ by Dr. Sonal Asthana, Head of the Department, Hepatobiliary Surgery and Multi-organ Transplantation, BGS Global Hospitals.

At the valedictory session, Dr. N.K. Venkataramana presented certificates to all the participants. He urged them to practice whatever they had learnt in the training programme and make it ‘viral’. Mr. Satish Gadennavar, ICU Staff Nurse from Victoria Hospital and Ms. Divya S., Staff Nurse from BGS Gobal Hospitals shared their feedback. Satish said that the course was very useful and beneficial. Divya asked her fellow participants whether they all wanted to become ‘Angels of Organ Donation’ like she did and the answer was a resounding ‘yes’!
