Reliance Colony Mouda, Nagpur invited MOHAN Foundation on 3^rd October 2014 to give awareness talk on organ donation for colony members at their Durga Puja celebrations.  

 

The talk was organized by Abhijit Motewar. He is the secretary of Durga Puja celebration committee. Dr. Ravi Wankhede, delivered a talk on Organ Donation.  In his talk he explained the following points such as given below:-

 

• Importance and need of organ donation.
• Types of donations – live and deceased donation.
• Difference between Natural Death, Coma and Brain Death.
• Organs and tissues that can be donated in cardiac death and brain death.
• Eye donation.
• Preservation time of organs.
• Importance of Donor card, helpline number and website..
• MOHAN Foundation activities.

 

The participants raised queries about Organ Donation which is given below:-

1) What is the cost for kidney transplant?

2) What Government facilities are there for kidney transplant?

3) Can a doctor give a concession for the transplantation?

4) Can a Cancer patient donate organ?

5) Is there blood group matching in Cornea transplant?  

 

Nearly 80 members attended the session. At the end of the session Mr. Bulu Behera distributed brochures and 1 person signed the pledge form and picked up the donor cards and rest of them took the pledge form.  They said they will register after discussing with their family members.
