An awareness talk on organ donation was conducted at Ealapuram, Perimkulam, Attingal at Trivandrum, on 8th March 2014. Mrithasanjeevani (Deceased Donor Organ Transplantation Programme, Kerala) was invited by PULARI Men’s Self Help Group (SHG), Perumkulam to deliver the talk on organ donation and transplantation. The main aim of the programme was to sensitise the PULARI members on Organ donation and they wanted to work on organ donation to promote this noble cause. The session was facilitated by Mr. Aneesh P. V., Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation deputed to Mrithasanjeevani, Kerala.

 

The programme started with welcome speech delivered by Shri. P Baby, President, Pulari. The programme was inaugurated by Mrs. Beena Rajeev, President, Kadayckavoor, Gramapanchayath. Mr. Aneesh P. V. gave an interactive talk on the concept of Organ Donation.

• Types of donations – live and deceased donation
• Difference between coma, cardiac death and brain death
• Organs & Tissues that can be donated
• Importance of Donor Card
• How the organization can work to promote organ donation

 

More than 50 members attended the programme and all the members expressed their support and pledged for organ donation. After the session donor cards were distributed to all the participants. The programme ended with the vote of thanks rendered by Shri. Rajashekharan Nair, Treasurer, Pulari.
