On July 15, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted a police sensitisation programme on organ donation at the Manipur Police Training College (MPTC), Pangei, Imphal East. The programme was a part of the ongoing series of monthly sensitisation sessions to enhance awareness and strengthen the capacity of police personnel on organ donation under the theme, "Saving Lives Beyond Duty."

The session was led by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator - North East and Project Lead (Manipur); Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive; Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executive; and Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.

The programme was organised with the support of Mr. Sorokhaibam Gautam Singh, IPS, Deputy Director (In-Charge Director), MPTC; Mrs. Victoria Yenkhom, IPS, Assistant Director, MPTC; and Mr. Laishram Manitomba, Deputy Superintendent of Police, MPTC.

Ms. Monica delivered a comprehensive presentation on organ donation, covering its various types, the concept of brain death, the legal framework governing organ donation, and the family consent process. She also addressed common myths and misconceptions, enabling participants to gain a clearer understanding of the life-saving impact of organ donation. Emphasizing its significance, she highlighted that a single deceased donor can save up to eight lives through organ donation. She encouraged participants to register as organ donors and to discuss their decision with their families, underscoring the crucial role of family consent in the donation process.

Following the presentation, Mr. Bidyananda conducted an interactive session on deceased organ donation, focusing on the vital role of police personnel in facilitating organ donation in Medico-Legal Cases (MLCs). To reinforce these key points, he shared two real-life case studies that demonstrated how effective collaboration between the police and healthcare teams can help save multiple lives through deceased organ donation.

The session also featured a screening of “The Legacy of Love”, a poignant film illustrating how a donor's selfless act creates a lasting legacy by offering hope and a renewed chance at life to multiple recipients and their families.

Participants responded enthusiastically to the session and expressed that it had significantly enhanced their understanding of organ donation and its life-saving potential. Many appreciated the humanitarian value of organ donation and recognized the important role that police personnel can play in supporting the donation process. Several participants also expressed their willingness to pledge as organ donors after discussing their decision with their family members.

To reinforce the key messages, participants were provided with FAQ brochures on organ donation and flowcharts outlining the organ donation process in Medico-Legal Cases (MLCs). Close to 80 police personnel attended the session, demonstrating keen interest and active engagement throughout the programme.
