On June 19, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness session at Raj Hospital, Main Road, Ranchi, with the objective of educating patients, their attendants, hospital staff, and visitors about the importance of organ and tissue donation. A total of 30 participants attended the session and actively participated in the awareness program.

The session was conducted by Mr. Mukesh Kumar Singh from MOHAN Foundation. He began by explaining the significance of organ donation and how one organ donor can save multiple lives by donating vital organs such as the heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, pancreas, and intestines, as well as tissues like the cornea, skin, and bones. He emphasized that organ donation is a noble act that offers hope and a second chance at life to patients suffering from end-stage organ failure.

A major focus of the session was the concept of brain death, its medical and legal recognition, and the process of deceased organ donation. The participants were informed about the difference between brain death and coma and were made aware that organs from a brain-dead donor can be transplanted to save the lives of several patients. The importance of family consent and timely decision-making in deceased organ donation was also discussed.

The session was highly interactive, with participants asking questions regarding eligibility for organ donation, age limits, the organ donation pledge process, and whether people with certain medical conditions could become organ donors. All queries were addressed patiently and clearly, helping participants gain confidence and a better understanding of the subject.

Informational pamphlets on organ donation were distributed among the attendees to reinforce the key messages shared during the session. Participants appreciated the initiative and acknowledged the need for greater public awareness to dispel myths and encourage organ donation.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks to the management of Raj Hospital for their support and cooperation in organizing the awareness program. Overall, the event was successful in promoting awareness, clearing misconceptions, and inspiring participants to discuss organ donation with their families and support the life-saving cause of organ and tissue donation.
