Awareness Session and Volunteer Training Programme for Team Vision Foundation

On June 8-9, 2026, Mr. Nikhil Nagarkar from MOHAN Foundation conducted a two-day Eye Donation Awareness Session and Volunteer Training Programme for Team Vision Foundation.

The programme was attended by 15 participants, including volunteers and members of the general public who were interested in promoting eye donation and community awareness initiatives. The training covered key aspects of eye donation, including the need for corneal donation, the process of corneal retrieval and transplantation, donor eligibility, common myths and misconceptions, and the role of awareness generation in addressing corneal blindness. Participants were also introduced to the basics of grief counselling and effective communication with donor families.

The sessions were interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions and seeking clarification on various aspects of eye donation and transplantation. As part of the observance of World Eye Donation Day, all 15 participants pledged to donate their eyes, demonstrating their commitment to supporting the cause and helping restore sight to those in need.

The programme successfully enhanced awareness, strengthened volunteer capacity, and created a group of motivated advocates who can contribute to spreading the message of eye donation within their communities.
