Eye Donation Awareness Session at Rural Hospital, Manor |
|
On June 25, 2026, an eye donation awareness session was conducted at Rural Hospital, Manor by Mr. Ravi Pawar from the MOHAN Foundation. The programme was organized to educate the general public, patients, attendants, and healthcare staff about the importance of eye donation and its vital role in restoring sight to individuals affected by corneal blindness. During the session, participants were informed about the significance of eye donation, the causes of corneal blindness, eligibility criteria for eye donation, and the complete eye donation process. The discussion also covered the ideal time for eye retrieval after death, legal and ethical aspects of eye donation, and the importance of communicating one's decision to donate eyes with family members. Several common myths and misconceptions associated with eye donation were addressed to promote better understanding and acceptance. The session was conducted in an interactive manner, allowing participants to ask questions and clarify their doubts. Emphasis was placed on the fact that eye donation is a selfless act that can restore vision to two individuals, and participants were encouraged to pledge their eyes and spread awareness about eye donation within their families and communities. Approximately 40 participants attended the awareness programme and actively participated throughout the session. The programme successfully enhanced awareness about eye donation and inspired participants to support this noble cause by becoming advocates for eye donation in their communities. MOHAN Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to the Medical Officer, healthcare staff, and the management of Rural Hospital, Manor for their valuable support and cooperation in successfully organizing the eye donation awareness session.
