The MF-SRDF was privileged to be invited by Commander N Nishant, Commanding Officer, 2 Punjab Naval Unit NCC, Amritsar, Punjab, to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for NCC cadets on June 25, 20026 at Partap World School, Pathankot, Punjab. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 325 odd cadets representing schools and colleges across four states Northern States, along with 10 Officers.

Ms Preeti Gupta, Program Officer, introduced the mission and vision of the foundation, alongwith emphasized organ donation as the ultimate “gift of life” and highlighting the critical role of youth in championing this noble cause. She also presented the current status of organ donation in India, drawing comparisons with global benchmarks and discussing policy frameworks such as the opt-out system.

The following key topics covered:

• Concept of organ donation and its impact
• Eligibility and donor types (live related/unrelated)
• Differences between natural death, brain death, and coma
• Eye donation procedures and corneal preservation
• Dispelling myths with facts
• Real-life transplant stories to inspire cadets
• Importance of donor cards and family discussions before pledging

The cadets and officers actively participated, asking insightful questions and expressing their support. The Commander and officers concluded by encouraging all cadets to pledge their organs and spread awareness among family, friends, and teachers.

This initiative not only educated the participants but also inspired them to become ambassadors for organ donation, reinforcing the message that donating organs is the ultimate act of giving life.
