Awareness Program on Organ Donation and Transplantation Conducted at Subalsingh Para High School, West Tripura

On June 10, 2026, an awareness program on organ donation was organized for the students of Subalsing Para High School, West Tripura, to spread awareness about the importance of saving lives through organ donation. Mr. Sudhir Debbarma, Teacher-in-Charge, warmly welcomed the representatives of the MOHAN Foundation to the school.

Ms. Nipa Modak, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Tripura, conducted the awareness talk. She was accompanied by Mr. Biswajit Debbarma, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Tripura

Ms. Nipa began the session by introducing the work, mission, and vision of the Foundation. She  explained that the MOHAN Foundation is a not-for-profit organization working across India to promote organ donation through public awareness and education.

She further described organ donation as a noble act through which a living donor or a deceased donor can help save or improve the lives of individuals in need of organ transplantation. The students were informed that organs such as the kidneys, liver, heart, lungs, and pancreas can be donated. She also highlighted the importance of eye donation, which can restore sight and significantly improve the quality of life of visually impaired individuals.

Mr. Biswajit Debbarma then spoke about the Foundation’s mission to ensure that people suffering from end-stage organ failure receive the “gift of life” through organ donation. He highlighted the importance of public awareness, training, and counselling in dispelling myths and misconceptions and increasing people's willingness to donate organs. He encouraged the students to come forward and pledge their support for organ donation. The active participation of the students reflected their interest in understanding how organ donation can bring hope and save the lives of many individuals and families.

The awareness programme proved to be meaningful, as it helped students understand the social importance of organ donation at an early age. Such initiatives can contribute to the development of responsible citizens who may, in turn, encourage their families and communities to support organ donation in the future.

Mr. Sudhir Debbarma expressed his gratitude to the MOHAN Foundation team for organising the programme for the students and urged everyone to come forward and pledge for organ donation. He also encouraged the students to share the message of organ donation with their families, friends, and communities. The programme concluded successfully and was both informative and impactful.

Close to 23 students attended the program.
