Awareness Session on Organ and Whole-Body Donation at Shree Swaminarayan Ashram Ganga Arti Ghat, Rishikesh |

On June 17, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, Uttarakhand, conducted an awareness session on
organ donation at Shree Swaminarayan Ashram Ganga Aarti Ghat, Rishikesh. The session
was organized at the invitation of Shri Sunil Bhagat Ji and Mr. Abhishek Sharma, Trustees
from Shree Swaminarayan Ashram, Rishikesh.
Mr. Arun Sharma, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Uttarakhand, served as the
resource speaker for the session and was accompanied by Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader,
MOHAN Foundation, stationed at AIIMS Rishikesh. The programme was attended by
devotees, tourists, and visitors gathered at the ghat for the evening Ganga Aarti.
Mr. Arun commenced the session by engaging participants in a discussion on their existing
understanding of organ donation. He then delivered an informative talk covering the
importance of organ donation, eligibility criteria for donors, living and deceased donation,
organ donation during life and after death, brain death and its distinction from coma, eye
and skin donation, corneal preservation after death, provisions under the Transplantation of
Human Organs & Tissues Act (THOTA), 1994, living kidney transplantation facilities at AIIMS
Rishikesh, common myths and facts related to organ donation, and the initiatives of
MOHAN Foundation, including the Anudaan programme.
Subsequently, Shri Sunil Bhagat Ji addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of
MOHAN Foundation in promoting awareness on organ donation. He publicly expressed his
commitment to pledge for organ donation and encouraged devotees and visitors to
consider doing the same. Highlighting organ donation as a noble act that can save and
transform lives, he urged participants to discuss their wishes with their families and help
spread awareness about the cause within their communities.
Participants appreciated the efforts of MOHAN Foundation and actively engaged in the
discussion. Many expressed their willingness to support and promote the cause of organ
donation among their families, friends, and communities.
Approximately 1,500 individuals attended the awareness session at the Ganga Aarti Ghat,
while an estimated 650 additional viewers joined through the live telecast of the Aarti,
significantly extending the reach of the organ donation awareness message.
