Ms. Pallavi Kumar invited as guest speaker at Scientific Seminar on Deceased Organ Donation in Pakistan On June 10, 2026, Ms. Pallavi Kumar, Executive Director, MOHAN Foundation (MF) NCR, virtually participated as a guest speaker in the Full-Day Scientific Seminar on “Deceased Organ Donation in Pakistan: From Awareness to Action,” organized by the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center (PKLI&RC), Lahore, Pakistan. The seminar brought together transplant surgeons, healthcare professionals, policymakers, organ donation advocates, and international experts to discuss key aspects of deceased organ donation and transplantation. Ms. Pallavi Kumar was invited as a distinguished speaker for the session “Family Approach & Consent.” During her presentation, she shared MF’s extensive experience in promoting deceased organ donation and highlighted the critical role of family counseling and consent in the organ donation process. She emphasized the importance of compassionate and sensitive communication with donor families during periods of grief. Drawing from India’s experience, she discussed practical approaches adopted by transplant coordinators to build trust, provide accurate information, and support families in making informed decisions regarding organ donation. She also shared successful strategies that have contributed to increased awareness and improved consent rates for deceased organ donation in India. The following aspects were covered:
The session highlighted how a respectful, transparent, and compassionate family approach towards donor families can significantly improve consent rates and ultimately help save multiple lives through organ transplantation. The seminar served as an excellent platform for international knowledge exchange and collaboration in the field of deceased organ donation. Ms. Kumar’s contribution added significant value to the discussions by providing practical insights and real-world experiences from India. The session reinforced the importance of effective family counseling and consent processes in strengthening deceased organ donation programs and improving access to life-saving organ transplants.
