On May 11, 2026, an organ donation awareness session was conducted at the Regional Transport Office (RTO), West Mumbai, for staff members with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation and encouraging informed participation in this life-saving cause. The session witnessed the participation of over 10 staff members, including police staff, who actively engaged in the discussion and showed keen interest in understanding various aspects of organ donation. The session provided detailed information about the organ donation process, eligibility criteria, and the importance of timely consent for donation. Important discussions were held regarding family consent in organ donation and the role of consent mentioned on the driving license. Participants were informed about how the donor declaration on a driving license reflects an individual’s willingness to donate organs; however, family consent remains essential at the time of donation. These aspects helped participants gain a clearer understanding of the legal and procedural framework related to organ donation. The session was highly interactive, with staff members raising questions related to the donation procedure, consent process, and eligibility for donation. The active participation of the police staff further contributed to meaningful discussions and enhanced the overall impact of the session. The awareness program proved to be informative and engaging, helping strengthen understanding about organ donation among the RTO staff and encouraging positive conversations around this noble cause. |
