On June 3, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ and tissue donation at the Outpatient Department (OPD) area of the Manipur State Eye Bank (MSEB), as part of its ongoing public education and outreach initiatives. The session was conducted by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal,  and she was accompanied by Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal. The programme was conducted with the support and coordination of Mr. K. Bamkimchandra Singh and Laishram Bidyananda, Eye Donation Counsellors, MSEB. 

Ms. Priya commenced the session by introducing the team and outlining the programme objectives. She explained the concept of organ and tissue donation, distinguishing between living and deceased donation, and highlighted the shortage of donors in Manipur. Emphasizing the life-saving impact of donation, she informed participants about transplantation services available in the state, including corneal transplantation services provided by the Manipur State Eye Bank (MSEB).

She also explained the key provisions of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA), 1994, stressing that the buying and selling of organs and tissues is illegal and punishable by law. In addition, she also informed  the participants that cornea donation can be facilitated from the donor's home after death and clarified that organ and tissue donation does not cause disfigurement of the body.

Following the session, Mr. K. Bamkinchandra explained the procedure for pledging eye donation through the Manipur State Eye Bank and encouraged participants to discuss their decision with family members. As a result of the awareness programme, two participants pledged their eyes for donation.

The session concluded with Ms. Priya encouraging participants to pledge for organ donation, reiterating that one donor can save multiple lives. Informational FAQs were distributed, and approximately 40 individuals benefited from the session.
