Awareness Session on Organ Donation Conducted at Sawarnrekha College of Nursing, Ranchi

On May 21, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness session at Sawarnrekha College of Nursing, Bariyatu Road, Ranchi. Around 100 nursing students actively participated in the session. Officials from SOTTO Jharkhand were also present, making the session informative and impactful for the students.

The session began with an address by Salvia from SOTTO Jharkhand. She spoke in detail about the importance of organ donation and how one donor can save multiple lives through organ and tissue donation. She explained the concept of brain death and how it differs from other medical conditions. She also spoke about cardiac death and its relevance in the context of tissue donation. Her presentation helped students understand the medical aspects of donation in a clear and practical way. She further introduced students to NOTTO (National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization), explaining its role in organ donation and transplantation in India, and how it supports donor registration and awareness activities across the country.

Following this, Mr. Mukesh Kumar Singh from MOHAN Foundation addressed the students and discussed common myths and facts related to organ donation. He clarified misconceptions related to organ misuse, eligibility for donation, religious beliefs, and the process of donation after death. His session helped address common fears and encouraged students to view organ donation with greater awareness and confidence.

To make the session more engaging and interactive, a question-and-answer session was conducted. Students actively participated, asked thoughtful questions, and shared their views. The interactive discussion created enthusiasm among the students and helped deepen their understanding of organ donation and transplantation.

Overall, the session was highly informative, interactive, and well received by the nursing students. It provided valuable knowledge about organ donation, brain death, cardiac death, and the role of NOTTO. The session also encouraged students to become advocates for organ donation awareness in their communities and future healthcare careers. It was a meaningful step toward promoting awareness and building a positive attitude toward organ donation among future nursing professionals.
