The SRDF-MF Foundation was privileged to be invited by Col. RK Chauhan, Commanding Officer of 21 Punjab Battalion NCC Kapurthala, Punjab, to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for NCC cadets. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 560 cadets representing schools and colleges across Kapurthala, along with 10 Officers.

The session was inaugurated by Mrs. Sangeeta Jamwal, Head of Operations at SRDF-MF, who shared the mission and vision of the foundation. She emphasized organ donation as the ultimate “gift of life” and highlighted the vital role of youth in championing this noble cause. Mrs. Jamwal also presented the current status of organ donation in India, comparing it with global benchmarks and discussing policy frameworks such as the opt-out system.

Following this, Ms. Preeti Gupta delivered an engaging session covering:

  • Concept of organ donation and its impact
  • Eligibility and donor types (live related/unrelated)
  • Differences between natural death, brain death, and coma
  • Eye donation procedures and corneal preservation
  • Dispelling myths with facts
  • Real-life transplant stories to inspire cadets
  • Importance of donor cards and family discussions before pledging

The cadets and officers actively participated, asking insightful questions and expressing their support. The Commandant and officers concluded by encouraging all cadets to pledge their organs and spread awareness among family, friends, and teachers.

This initiative not only educated the participants but also inspired them to become ambassadors for organ donation, reinforcing the message that donating organs is the ultimate act of giving life.

On behalf of SRDF-MF, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Col. RK Chauhan and the officers of the 21 Punjab Battalion NCC Kapurthala, Punjab for their warm invitation and support in organizing this impactful session. Special thanks to the cadets whose enthusiasm and commitment made the program truly meaningful.

We believe that the seeds of awareness sown today will grow into a strong movement led by the youth, ensuring that the noble cause of organ donation reaches every household.
