On 07^th May, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness talk to the security staff of Narayana Hrudayalaya, Hospital, Bengaluru

The talk was conducted by Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS, Project Manager, and Mr. Nagendra Kumar R, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation.

Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS initiated the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission and vision, and explained in detail the procedure of corneal donation. Following this, she continued the session and explained the following concepts in detail:

• Concepts of organ and tissue donation
• Types of death: cardiac death and brain death
• Brain death and the declaration process
• Procedures for deceased organ donation and living organ donation
• Procedures for tissue donation (bone, skin, and heart valves)
• Myths and facts related to organ donation and its impact on society
• Role of Jeevasarthakathe
• Importance of the donor card

Towards the end of the session, the audience raised several queries, which were answered by Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS. The questions raised included:

• Transportation: Who bears the cost of transportation?
• Cost: Will the donor family have to pay additional hospital charges?
• Re-donation: Can a transplant recipient re-donate a transplanted organ?

Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS motivated the staff to take the pledge for organ donation.

A total of 40 staff members attended the session, and all 40 participants supported the cause by taking the pledge for organ donation. Brochures and donor cards were distributed at the end of the session.
