Awareness Session on Eye Donation Conducted at Rural Hospital Virar, Palghar

On 07 May 2026, an eye donation awareness session was organized at Rural Hospital Virar, Palghar, with the participation of approximately 25 individuals, including hospital staff, patients, and accompanying family members. The main purpose of the session was to increase awareness about eye donation and motivate people to understand its significance in restoring vision to those suffering from corneal blindness.

The awareness session was conducted by Mr. Ravi Pawar from the MOHAN Foundation, who explained the concept and importance of eye donation in a simple and informative manner. Participants were educated about corneal blindness, the urgent need for eye donors, and the procedure involved in eye donation after death. Emphasis was given to the fact that eye donation is possible irrespective of age and can help improve the lives of visually impaired individuals.

During the session, several common misconceptions and doubts related to eye donation were discussed and clarified. The participants showed interest in the topic, actively interacted during the session, and sought information regarding eligibility criteria, the donation process, and the benefits of eye donation.

The initiative helped create greater awareness among the attendees and highlighted the importance of encouraging eye donation at healthcare facilities and within the community.
