Information Desk on Organ and Eye Donation at Women Empowerment Beyond Entrepreneurship (WEBE) Event |
|
On May 24, 2026, the MOHAN Foundation participated in the “Women Empowerment Beyond Entrepreneurship (WEBE)” exhibition organised by the Shree Jain Sahayak Samiti at YMCA Royapettah. The event featured more than 120 women entrepreneur stalls along with 10 NGO stalls, creating a vibrant platform for awareness, networking, and community engagement. MOHAN Foundation set up an information desk to spread awareness on organ donation, cornea donation, and lung diseases. Information brochures on organ and eye donation along with green ribbons were distributed to visitors, and the public actively interacted with the team to clarify their doubts regarding organ donation and the pledging process. Some of the common questions raised by the visitors included how to pledge again if they had already registered earlier, the purpose and use of the MOHAN Foundation helpline number, the legal age for organ donation, whether organs would be forcefully retrieved if a person had pledged but the family refused consent, and what MOHAN Foundation does with donated organs. Visitors also enquired whether individuals with diabetes could donate organs. Dr. Hemal, Quality Assurance Officer, and Ms. Kanishka, Project Executive, addressed these queries by explaining the importance of family consent, the role of MOHAN Foundation in creating awareness and coordinating organ donation, and how medical suitability for donation is assessed only at the time of death by doctors. Around 550 information brochures were distributed during the programme. Approximately 40 donor cards were issued to individuals who had already pledged previously and wished to reconnect with the initiative, while 15 individuals newly pledged for organ and eye donation during the event. MOHAN Foundation expressed its sincere gratitude to Mr. Rajendra Kumar Sanklecha and the organising committee of Shree Jain Sahayak Samiti for providing the opportunity to participate in the event and spread awareness on the importance of organ and tissue donation among the public. |
