To commemorate International Nurses Day (May 12, 2026) MOHAN Foundation and MMM Hospital conducted a seminar on Organ Donation for staff nurses. Around 80 staff nurses and a few senior nursing students participated enthusiastically in the session on May 14, 2026. Everyone present were given a green ribbon, and information brochures on lung health, eye and organ donation.

Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer, MOHAN Foundation delivered an informative session on cornea donation awareness. She explained the increasing prevalence of corneal blindness and emphasized the urgent need for cornea donation. She also elaborated on the process of cornea donation, the precautions to be followed, and addressed common misconceptions related to eye donation. The session concluded with a discussion on the vital role nurses can play in creating awareness and motivating families to support cornea donation in the future.

Awareness on organ donation was conducted through a BINGO Game. The BINGO cards were made with words associated with organ donation and transplantation. Dr. Hemal and Mr. Prakash, Transplant coordinator at MMM Hospital conducted the interactive BINGO game. Every word on the card was explained by the nurses or by Mrs Arshiya Fathima senior project executive of MOHAN Foundation. The activity encouraged active participation and helped reinforce the concepts discussed during the session in an engaging manner.

Dr. Hemal also invited Mr. Prakash, to share his real-life experiences and transplantation cases with the participants. His insights provided the nurses with practical knowledge about the challenges and impact of organ transplantation, making the session more meaningful and inspiring. Ten staff nurses pledged for eye donation after his talk.
