Awareness Session on Organ Donation Conducted at Regional Transport Office (RTO), Borivali

An organ and tissue donation awareness session was conducted on April 29, 2026 at the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Borivali with the objective of educating participants about the importance of organ donation and encouraging them to support the noble cause of saving lives through donation. The session witnessed the participation of around 50 attendees, including RTO staff and public visitors, who actively engaged throughout the programme.

The awareness session was organised to sensitise participants about the growing need for organ donors and the life-saving impact of organ and tissue donation. The session provided an opportunity for attendees to gain a better understanding of the donation process and clarify common misconceptions related to organ donation.

During the programme, participants were educated about various aspects of organ and tissue donation, including eligibility criteria, the process of organ retrieval and transplantation, and the importance of family consent. The discussion also focused on the concepts of brain stem death and cardiac death, helping attendees understand how organ and tissue donation can take place after death and contribute to saving multiple lives.

The session highlighted the importance of timely organ donation and the urgent need to spread awareness within society. Participants were informed about how organs and tissues donated by one individual can improve and restore the lives of several patients suffering from organ failure.
