On 29.04.2026, an organ donation awareness session was successfully conducted for masonry workers at their worksite near Thadiparthy, Ranga Reddy District, Telangana. The initiative was led by Venkatesh Kattela, Project Manager, under the aegis of the MOHAN Foundation, with the objective of extending awareness to underserved and working communities.

The session was thoughtfully scheduled during the workers’ leisure hours to ensure it did not interfere with their daily work, enabling maximum participation and engagement.

A total of 85 individuals attended the session. The programme was interactive and tailored to the audience, ensuring clear understanding of the concept of organ donation through simple and relatable communication.

• Meaning and types of organ donation
• Difference between brain death and cardiac arrest
• Importance of donor cards and family consent
• Legal aspects under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act (THOA), 1994
• Addressing common myths and misconceptions

The response from the participants was highly encouraging. All 85 individuals expressed their willingness to donate their organs, reflecting a strong sense of awareness and social responsibility.

A particularly powerful moment during the session was when one participant shared her personal experience of donating her kidney to her husband. Her story added an emotional depth to the programme and deeply resonated with the audience, reinforcing the real-life impact of organ donation.
