Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Traffic Training Park, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi

On April 23, 2026, MOHAN Foundation (MF) conducted an organ donation awareness session for Traffic Police personnel at the Traffic Training Park, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi. The session was led by Ms. Simran Anand, Programme Officer, MOHAN Foundation NCR, who served as the resource person, with Ms. Anchal Sharma, Programme Officer, MOHAN Foundation NCR, accompanying her.

Ms. Simran Anand began with a brief introduction to MOHAN Foundation and initiated an interactive discussion to assess the participants’ understanding of organ donation. She covered key topics including the difference between brain death and coma, living versus deceased donation, eligibility for organ donation, the importance of skin donation, common myths and facts, and the overall significance of organ donation.

She also addressed the issue of organ trafficking, particularly the illegal trade in kidneys, explaining that such exploitation is usually associated with unauthorized living donor transplants. During the session, two participants shared that they had already registered for full body donation.

The session saw enthusiastic participation, with several questions from the audience. Participants inquired whether the donor’s family is informed about the recipient’s identity and whether individuals can lead a healthy life after donating a portion of their liver. Ms. Simran clarified that donor and recipient identities are kept strictly confidential, and reassured that individuals can lead a healthy life post partial liver donation.

Following the session, approximately 25 participants came forward to pledge for organ donation. A total of around 250 individuals attended the session.
