On April 13, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, conducted an organ and tissue donation awareness talk at Eye new Out Patient Department (OPD) Block, RIMS, Mr Elangbam Paringanba Singh and Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Programme Executives represented the foundation.

The session began with Ms. Priya introducing the concept of organ and tissue donation and assessing the participants’ existing knowledge and awareness on the topic. She provided a detailed overview of organ and tissue donation, explaining the different organs and tissues that can be donated, and clearly differentiated between living and deceased donation.

She also briefly highlighted the progress of organ and tissue donation in Manipur and informed the participants about the hospitals and centres where transplantation services are available. During the session, she discussed the legal framework governing organ and tissue donation, emphasizing that the buying and selling of human organs and tissue is strictly prohibited and punishable under the law. Towards the end of the session, participants were guided on how to take the organ and tissue donation pledge and were encouraged to register as donors. Informational pamphlets containing details about organ and tissue donation and toll-free helpline numbers were also distributed.

Around 20 participants attended the session and participated actively, indicating a positive response and improved understanding of organ and tissue donation.
