The 43rd batch of Organ Donation ambassador  virtual training was conducted on April18, 2026.  Ten motivated individuals from different parts of the country completed the Module 2 of the Training. The training was conducted by Mrs Arshiya Fathima, Dr Muneet Kaur Sahi and Dr Hemal Kanvinde of MOHAN Foundation. 

The training began with a self introduction of the candidates, they were students, doctors and business owners.  Dr Hemal explained the training modules and continued with a talk on different modes of creating awareness.  Giving various examples she highlighted the need for planning and understanding the audience before attempting an event or a talk. 

The next session was on interaction with experts. The experts were 

Dr Akanksha Gupta a liver recipient - Surendranagar,Gujarat 

Dr Honey  Pilta a kidney recipient - Nagpur Maharashtra

Dr Veena Wathore Project Officer - Nagpur Maharashtra

Ms Ranjini Shankar  Transplant Coordinator- Bengaluru

The trainees asked their queries to the guest faculty. Most of the discussions were on grief counseling, post transplant care, mental health issues and how to overcome an organ failure patient, what are the ways to approach hospitals, how do doctors decide which organs are worthy of retroeval, does a person have to decide the organs to be donated at time of pledge.  Dr Honey and Dr Akanksha narrated their transplant stories. These were  eye opening stories and were much appreciated by the trainees. Ms Ranjini explained the importance of care to the family in hospital setup and clear communication even when donation  consent is not given.

The next session was a Gratitude workshop. Dr Muneet Kaur Sahi explained the plan of writing a Thank You letter to an anonymous donor with tips for points to be  added to the letter. The trainees wrote down letters as if they were organ recipients, and read out the letters.  

The last session was feedback and planning for Module 3. All the trainees spoke on how they can reach the communities in their region and also to the general public. Some of the modes discussed were social media,  talks at health camps, honoring donor families, and talks to medical college students.
