Organ Donation Awareness Session Conducted at Bero Jan Mahotsav, Ranchi |
|
Organ donation awareness is essential to bridge the gap between the demand for and availability of life-saving organs. MOHAN Foundation continuously works towards spreading awareness through community outreach programmes and collaborations with other organisations. As part of this initiative, an organ donation awareness session was conducted on 24 March 2026 at Bero Jan Mahotsav, Ranchi, in collaboration with Azim Premji Foundation. The programme mainly targeted Anganwadi Sahikas and ASHA workers, who play an important role in community health awareness. The main objectives of the programme were to sensitise frontline health workers about organ donation, explain organ and tissue donation and its importance, clarify the concepts of brain death and cardiac death, spread awareness about the organs and tissues that can be donated, discuss the legal aspects of organ donation, and empower community health workers to further spread awareness in their communities. The session was conducted by Mr. Mukesh Kumar Singh. During the programme, he explained the concepts of organ and tissue donation, the difference between brain death and cardiac death, and the organs and tissues that can be donated. Special emphasis was given to the role of community health workers in promoting awareness about organ donation at the grassroots level. Legal procedures and common myths related to organ donation were also discussed. A total of 150 Anganwadi Sahikas and ASHA workers participated in the session. The participants showed keen interest and actively took part in the discussion. One of the questions raised during the session was, “Is there any age limit for organ donation?” The question was answered with proper explanation and relevant examples. The programme witnessed large participation from frontline health workers and encouraged strong engagement and interactive discussion. It also highlighted the importance of community-level awareness, and participants showed willingness to spread awareness in their respective areas. The session significantly improved awareness and understanding about organ donation among the participants. As community health workers, they can further spread this knowledge at the grassroots level, thereby multiplying the impact of the awareness programme. MOHAN Foundation expresses its sincere gratitude to the organisers of Bero Jan Mahotsav and Azim Premji Foundation for their support and collaboration in successfully organising this awareness activity and for supporting the cause of organ donation. The programme was successfully conducted with excellent participation. Such collaborative awareness initiatives play an important role in strengthening community awareness and promoting the life-saving message of organ donation.
