An organ donation awareness talk was conducted on April 7, 2026, at St. Thomas Higher Secondary School. The session aimed to educate students about the importance of organ donation and encourage them to spread awareness within their families and communities.

The session was led by Gabriel, an organ donation ambassador from the MOHAN Foundation, who began by introducing himself and sharing his personal motivation for taking up the mission of promoting organ donation. His inspiring journey helped students connect with the cause and understand the importance of contributing to society through such life-saving initiatives. During the talk, he explained the legal aspects of organ donation and provided a clear understanding of the different types of donations. He elaborated on the concept of circulatory death, and highlighted which tissues can be donated under such circumstances. He also explained brain death in detail and reinforced the concept by showing an informative video, which helped students better grasp this critical medical condition.

Key segments of the session focused on organ donation infrastructure in Goa, including hospitals involved in transplantation. Students were actively engaged by being asked to identify transplant hospitals in the state. Those who answered correctly were rewarded with keychains from MOHAN Foundation, adding an element of interaction and encouragement.

To further extend awareness beyond the classroom, approximately 200 frequently asked questions (FAQ) flyers were distributed among the students. These flyers included QR codes that provided easy access to detailed information about the organ donation process. Students were encouraged to take these flyers home and discuss the topic with their families and friends, promoting informed decision-making and encouraging more people to say “yes” to organ donation.

The session saw enthusiastic participation from students, with teachers and the school principal present, whose support emphasized the importance of such awareness programs.

Overall, the talk was informative, engaging, and impactful, raising awareness of organ donation and inspiring students to become advocates for this noble cause in their communities.
