On March 5, 2026, an organ donation awareness session was conducted at the RTO Office, Wadala for driving licence applicants. The session was led by Ms. Sakshi Kshirsagar, Project Manager from MOHAN Foundation, with the aim of creating awareness about organ donation and encouraging informed decision-making among members of the public.

During the session, Ms. Sakshi introduced the participants to the importance of organ donation and explained how one donor can save and improve multiple lives. She spoke about the different types of donors and clearly explained the concepts of brain death and cardiac death, helping the attendees understand when and how organ donation is possible. She also discussed the age considerations and the legal framework related to organ donation in India, clarifying that donation depends more on medical suitability and the condition of organs than age alone.

Special emphasis was given to the organ pledge option available during the driving licence application process. Ms. Sakshi explained the significance of this option and encouraged applicants to view it as an opportunity to express their willingness to save lives after death. This helped participants better understand the meaning of pledging and the importance of discussing their decision with family members.

The session was interactive and generated interest among the attendees. Participants asked several thoughtful questions during the discussion. Some of the questions raised were:

1. Is organ donation possible if a person has already crossed 60 years of age?
2. Does selecting the organ donor option while applying for a driving licence automatically make someone a donor?

Ms. Sakshi answered these questions in a simple and practical manner, helping participants understand both the medical and legal aspects of organ donation. The session created meaningful awareness among the applicants and encouraged them to think positively about organ donation. Around 60 people attended the session, and 2 participants pledged to donate their organs, making the programme both informative and impactful.
