On March 22, 2026, an awareness program on organ donation and transplantation was organized by the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO), Tripura, in collaboration with MOHAN Foundation at Hepatitis Foundation Tripura (HFT) Institute of Nursing Sciences at Indranagar, Agartala, West Tripura.

Dr. Manirul Islam, Nodal Officer at Agartala Medical College & Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital, represented SOTTO, Tripura, while MOHAN Foundation was represented by Ms. Nipa Modak, Program Executive.

The program began at 4:00 PM with a welcome address by the founder of HFT. Dr. Manirul delivered the first session, highlighting SOTTO’s role in organ donation and transplantation, along with insights into kidney transplant activities at AGMC & GBP hospital.

Ms. Nipa Modak conducted the subsequent session on organ donation and transplantation. She began by introducing the MOHAN Foundation and elaborated on the types of donors and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She also spoke about the ongoing awareness initiatives in Tripura since June 2025 and explained the concept of brain death. She emphasized that one deceased donor can save up to nine lives.

Informational leaflets were distributed to all participants to reinforce key messages. Students and other participants were given an opportunity to ask questions, clarify their doubts, and gain a better understanding of the organ donation process.

Ms. Modak also spoke about the significance of organ donation and the different types of tissue that can be donated, while encouraging participants to support and spread awareness about this noble cause.

The program was attended by approximately 32 people. Doctors from the Rotary Club were also present for the awareness program. The program ended with a long discussion on eye donation and transplantation, taken up by the doctors present in the program.
