On March 13, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at New Out Patient Department (OPD) Block, RIMS. The Foundation was represented by Mr. Bidyananda Laishram (Senior), Programme Executive and Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Programme Executive.

The session commenced with Ms. Priya introducing the topic of organ donation and assessing the participants’ prior knowledge and awareness regarding the subject. She delivered a detailed explanation of organ donation, outlining the various organs and tissues that can be donated. She also clearly explained the difference between living and deceased organ donation. Furthermore, she briefly discussed the development of organ donation in Manipur and informed participants about the hospitals and centres where transplant procedures are performed. During the session, she also highlighted the legal framework related to organ donation. She emphasized that the commercial trade of human organs, including buying and selling, is strictly prohibited and considered a punishable offence under the law.

The session concluded with Ms. Priya encouraging attendees to take a pledge for organ donation through the website of the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO). To reinforce the information shared during the session, informational pamphlets on organ donation were distributed among the participants.

Close to 25 individuals participated in and benefited from the awareness programme.
