On March 2, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in association with Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the Medicine Outpatient Department (OPD), JNIMS. Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive, and Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executive, represented MOHAN Foundation.

The session began with Ms. Priya introducing the team to the participants. She then provided an overview of organ donation and transplantation, explaining the organs and tissues that can be donated and clearly distinguishing between living and deceased donation. She also highlighted the current status of organ donation in Manipur, noting that kidney transplant services are available in the government sector at both Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and JNIMS.

Ms. Priya further discussed the gap between the demand and supply of organs in the state and encouraged participants to spread awareness about deceased organ donation. She addressed common myths and misconceptions and emphasised that organ donation can offer hope and save many lives.

The session concluded with an expression of appreciation for the participants’ engagement and an encouragement to consider pledging their organs. Information pamphlets were distributed to enhance understanding and address any remaining questions.

Nearly 20 participants attended the session and gained valuable insights into organ donation. One individual came forward to pledge for organ donation and expressed appreciation for the efforts being made in service to humanity. He also assured that he would share the importance of organ donation with his family members and encourage them to pledge for this humanitarian cause, stating that it is better to donate organs to save lives than to let them be buried or cremated.
