Rangoli Competition to Promote Organ Donation held at ACS Medical College Hospital

On March 11 2026, MOHAN Foundation organised a Rangoli Festival in association with Faculty of Nursing, ACS Medical College & Hospital. The aim was the promotion of organ donation.The venue was at Faculty of Nursing, ACS Medical College and Hospital, Chennai. This is the 7th edition of Rangoli competition named அழியாத கோலங்கள் (Azhiyaad Kolanagal) organized by MOHAN Foundation.   

54 teams of students of Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, Pharmacy and PG participated. Rangolis were created using traditional powders, flowers and other material by the participants who were in teams of twos & threes.

The designs were judged on their relevance to the theme, colour balance, creativity, presentation of the teams. Judges were: 

Ms. Rajalakshmi Ravi - Head TANKER Awareness and Prevention Progarmme; 

Ms. Saranya Vijay Rajan - Arts& Crafts specialist in Tagore Art; 

Ms. Gracy Vinoth - 2D Artist in animation Industry; 

Mr. Shanth Ragul Nagaraj- Filmmaker &Creative professional; 

Ms. Vain Anandakumaran - Kolam Artist; 

Mr. Raghavan - Transplant Coordinator in Medway Hospital.

 

The chief guest for the occasion was Ms. Srivalli S, The Business Manager - Region South Taneira, Chennai

 

Colorful, vibrant, innovative and beautiful Rangolis adorned the corridors, mightily expressing messages that can save lives. Concepts of eye donation and organ donation, lung donation, Bone Marrow Transplant, Donor Baby Allen of Kerala’s story were presented. All themes were aesthetically and powerfully conveyed. The judges took time to checkout the designs and ask the students questions about their presentation.  

At the end of the event, the college staff conducted a valedictory function.  Prof. Dr. V H  Hema, Principal, Faculty of Nursing honored the judges.  Ms Srivalli spoke of her expirences in life and the need t have some aspect of giving back to society. She said the best way was to donate what you no longer need. The same is true for organs and tissues. She congratulated the Faculty of Nursing in using a novel way of teaching students kindness and giving. 

Speaking on behalf of all judges, Ms Rajalakshmi Ravi commented on the way all students had prepared well for the competition and made their task very difficult. She appreciated the work of MOHAN Foundation in using innovative ways to create awareness. 

Best Three designs were awarded to students from Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. The students were Ms. Vijayalakshmi, Ms.Esther, Ms. Veronica,Ms. Vinolina, Ms. Shalini and Ms.Gokila Devi

The next best three rangoli were Ms. Janathul, Ms. Jaya Shree, Mr. Danish, Ms.Tejashree, Ms. Reshma, Ms.Shamini, Ms. Manisha & Ms. Lakshaya

 

MOHAN Foundation is thankful to all 150 participants who came with their material and spent time to promote a cause using a powerful and aesthetic medium. MOHAN Foundation is also thankful to the judges, professors, Faculty of Nursing and Principal who made this event a success.
