On February 17, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the New OPD, RIMS, as part of its ongoing public education and outreach initiatives. The session was led by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi and Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executives, MOHAN Foundation.
Ms. Priya began the session by introducing the team and outlining the objectives of the program. She explained the concept of organ donation and clarified the difference between living and deceased donation. Highlighting the critical donor shortage in the state of Manipur, she emphasized the wide gap between the demand for organs and their availability, largely due to the low rate of deceased donations. She underlined that organ donation offers hope and a second chance at life for individuals in need.
Ms. Priya also stressed that buying or selling organs is illegal and punishable under the law. Addressing common myths, she reassured participants that organ donation does not cause any physical deformity and that the dignity of donors is always respected.
The session concluded with her expressing appreciation for the participants’ engagement and encouraging them to pledge their organs rather than merely disposing of the body after death. She highlighted that a single donor can save multiple lives, making organ donation one of the greatest gifts one can offer humanity.
Informational leaflets were distributed, and the session was attended by nearly 30 participants.
