MOHAN Foundation Participates in Special Outreach Health Camp at Kshetri Mayai Leikai

On February 27, 2026 MOHAN Foundation participated in Special Outreach Health Camp at Kshetri Mayai Leikai, Imphal East organized by Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Kshetrigao. Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi and Mr. Elangbam Paringnaba Singh, Program Executives, represented the Foundation.

 

The camp was efficiently coordinated by Mrs. Premlata, Nurse In-Charge, UPHC, who played an active and commendable role in conducting the camp, with support from the accompanying staff.

 

As part of the camp, a comprehensive health camp was organized in collaboration with specialist doctors from the departments of Medicine, Gynaecology, Dermatology, and Paediatrics. A wide range of healthcare services, including diagnostic screenings, immunisation, and the distribution of essential medicines, were provided to the public free of cost. The initiative reflected a strong commitment to promoting community health and ensuring accessible medical care for all.

 

During the camp, Ms. Priya delivered an informative session on organ donation, explaining its concept, types, and life-saving significance. She noted that renal and corneal transplants are successfully conducted in Manipur and emphasized that organs from a brain-dead donor can save up to eight or nine lives, highlighting the importance of deceased donation. She also outlined key provisions of the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, stressing that organ trade is illegal, and addressed the gap between organ demand and availability. The session concluded with a clear explanation of the pledging process and an appeal to participants to pledge their organs and inform their families of their decision.

 

Informational pamphlets on organ and tissue donation were distributed among the participants, and a dedicated pledge counter was set up to facilitate registration and to address queries related to organ donation. The session witnessed the active participation of nearly 50 community members. In their feedback, attendees conveyed that the session had provided them with valuable insights, enhanced their knowledge, and fostered a clearer and more comprehensive understanding of organ and tissue donation.
