On February 21, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the Orthopaedics Outpatient Department (OPD), New OPD Block, RIMS. The session was facilitated by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive, and Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executive, representing MOHAN Foundation.

Ms. Priya commenced the session by introducing the team and explaining the concept of organ transplantation. She elaborated on the distinction between living and deceased donors and highlighted the limited availability of organ donors in the state of Manipur. She drew attention to the significant gap between the increasing demand for organs due to organ failure and the low number of deceased donations. She further emphasized that organ donation offers renewed hope and a second chance at life for patients suffering from end-stage organ failure.

She also reiterated that the buying and selling of human organs is strictly prohibited by law and constitutes a punishable criminal offence. Addressing common myths and misconceptions, she clarified that organ donation does not lead to mutilation or disfigurement of the donor’s body and stressed that the dignity and respect of the donor are maintained throughout the entire donation process.

In her concluding remarks, Ms. Priya encouraged attendees to consider registering as organ donors rather than allowing their organs to go unused after death, describing organ donation as one of the most selfless and meaningful contributions an individual can make to society. Informational leaflets on organ donation were distributed during the session.

Nearly 40 participants attended the awareness talk and gained valuable knowledge about the importance and impact of organ donation.
