Organ Donation Information Desk at the Blood Donation Camp organised by Mapusa Youth in Mapusa, Goa

On Thursday, February 19, 2026, Mr Gabriel Pereira, an Organ Donation Ambassador for the MOHAN Foundation, set up an organ donation information desk at a blood donation camp. This event took place on the auspicious day of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti at Shri Dev Bodgeshwar Sansthan in Mapusa, Bardez, Goa.

The camp was organised by the Mapusa Youth in collaboration with Shri Dev Bodgeshwar Sansthan and Sarthak Foundation, a national NGO. It ran from 9 AM to 1 PM, with the blood bank from Victor Hospital collecting the blood units. In addition to blood donation, the camp also offered general blood tests and eye check-ups.

Gabriel learned about the camp through social media and contacted the President, Mr Pravin Asolkar, to see if he could set up an organ donation desk at the event. Mr Asolkar readily agreed.  Gabriel thanked the donors for coming forward to donate blood, highlighting that their contributions could save the lives of 3 to 4 people. He encouraged them to also consider saying yes to organ donation, explaining the concept and distributing flyers that answered frequently asked questions. These flyers included a QR code for pledging to become an organ donor, and as a result, three individuals obtained donor cards from the desk. Over the course of the event, Gabriel distributed approximately 20 flyers to attendees.

At the end of the camp, Gabriel expressed his gratitude to the members and to Mr Pravin Asolkar for allowing the MOHAN Foundation to participate. He also requested an awareness talk on organ donation for the Mapusa Youth members to help them gain a better understanding of this important topic.
