MOHAN Foundation Conducts Organ Donation Awareness Talk at Medicine OPD, JNIMS |

On February 16, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the Medicine Out-Patient Department (OPD) of JNIMS as part of its ongoing public education and outreach initiatives.
The session was led by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive, along with Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.
Ms. Priya commenced the session by introducing the team and delivering a comprehensive overview of organ donation, underscoring its profound significance in saving lives. She elaborated on the procedures involved in the donation process, enumerated the organs and tissues suitable for transplantation, and clearly differentiated between living and deceased donation. Furthermore, she provided detailed information regarding the ongoing cornea and kidney transplantation programs in Manipur. She firmly emphasized that the commercial trade of human organs is unlawful and constitutes a punishable offence under the law. In addition, she addressed prevalent myths and misconceptions associated with organ donation and elucidated the distinction between circulatory death and brain death, thereby enabling participants to attain a clearer, more informed, and accurate understanding of the subject matter.
She motivated the participants to register as organ donors and to inform their family members about their decision, ensuring that their intention to donate is respected and carried out. Informational leaflets containing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) were distributed to reinforce and reiterate the key messages conveyed during the session.
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from approximately 25 participants, who gained valuable insights into the significance and life-transforming impact of organ donation.
