Batch 42 of Ambassadors complete their training

On February 7, 2026, the 42nd group of organ donation advocates was trained by the MOHAN Foundation. Thirteen committed volunteers participated in the approximately three-hour-long Zoom sessions. The course was led by Mrs. Arshiya Fathima and Dr. Hemal Kanvinde.

The training and the learners' expectations were discussed by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde. One of the trainees, who was interestingly a kidney recipient, introduced themselves. Dr. Hemal then discussed the many approaches to raising awareness. Using the actions of organ donation ambassadors as examples Dr. Hemal emphasized that all programs, no matter how big or small, have an effect on society.

Causes of renal failure, the body donation process, the significance of social media, addressing traditional beliefs and religions that oppose organ donation, including tissue donation, making posters in vernacular languages, capacity building, and the value of culture-based education to raise awareness were among the topics covered during the interactions. 

 Writing a letter of appreciation to a donor family was the topic of the next session. Every trainee was to be in the shoes of a recipient and compose a letter of gratitude to the family of their unidentified donor. Every Ambassador trainee composed and delivered their letter. They were led through the writing process by Dr. Hemal. 

 The training ended with feedback and with plans being discussed with the trainees.
