On February 9, 2026, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, Organ Donation Ambassador for MOHAN Foundation, delivered an awareness talk on organ donation at Mae de Deus Chapel, Gaunsavaddo, Siolim, Goa. He was invited by Rev. Fr. Marcelino de Souza, Dean of the Siolim Deanery and Parish Priest of St. Anthony’s Church, Vagator, Goa.

The audience comprised priests from eight parishes within the Siolim Deanery, North Zone. This session followed an earlier talk conducted by Mr. Pereira for the Deans of the Archdiocese of Goa in July 2024.

Mr. Pereira shared his personal journey and motivation for becoming an organ donation ambassador. His commitment was inspired by his sister-in-law’s experience with renal failure, which required a life-saving transplant. This experience strengthened his dedication to spreading awareness about organ donation in Goa.

He emphasized the importance of organ donation and encouraged the priests to invite MOHAN Foundation to conduct awareness sessions for their parishioners, highlighting the influential role priests can play in creating long-term impact. Key topics covered included circulatory death and brain stem death, the process of organ and tissue donation, organ allocation, green corridors, and how to obtain a donor card. He also explained practical steps to register as a donor, such as scanning the QR code available on the MOHAN Foundation website or on the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) leaflets distributed during the session.

Approximately 12 priests attended the talk. Informational materials on organ donation were distributed, and a proposal was shared to conduct awareness talks in their respective parishes.

Mr. Pereira also shared videos on organ donation with the priests to help them better understand the concepts and process. The videos included an animated short film by Shweta Gupta, an explainer video on brain death, and a film produced by ROTTO/SOTTO Mumbai.
