MOHAN Foundation Conducts Organ Donation Awareness Talk at the Medicine JNIMS OPD

On February 4, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the Medicine Outpatient Department (OPD) of JNIMS as part of its ongoing public education initiatives.

 

The session was facilitated by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi and Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executives from MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.

 

Ms. Priya introduced the fundamental concepts of organ donation and addressed key queries, including the meaning of organ donation, organs that can be donated, and the difference between living and deceased donation. She explained the concept of deceased organ donation, highlighting how organs donated by brain-dead individuals can save multiple lives and significantly improve the quality of life of recipients. She also encouraged participants to pledge for organ donation. Additionally, she clarified that even if an individual has registered as an organ donor, organ retrieval after death is subject to the consent of the family.

 

In the end, informational pamphlets on organ donation were distributed to enhance participants’ understanding. Approximately 25 individuals attended the session and gained valuable knowledge regarding the life-saving and transformative impact of organ donation.
