Awareness Session Conducted at Sree Narayana Guru College of Commerce, Chembur, Mumbai

On January 6, 2026, an organ donation awareness session was conducted at Sree Narayana Guru College of Commerce, Chembur, Mumbai, for students of the National Service Scheme (NSS). The session was organized under the guidance of Prof. Zahid Khan, Programme Officer, who invited MOHAN Foundation to lead the program. The primary objective of the session was to educate students about the importance of organ donation, the eligibility criteria, age limits, and the process involved in pledging organs, while fostering a sense of social responsibility among the students.

The session was conducted by Ms. Sakshi from MOHAN Foundation, who covered the topic in depth. She explained the life-saving significance of organ and tissue donation and highlighted the shortage of donors, emphasizing how pledged donations can make a real difference in saving lives. The students were educated about who is eligible to donate organs, including the medical and legal considerations, and the minimum and maximum age limits for pledging organ donation. Ms. Sakshi also provided step-by-step guidance on the process of registering as an organ donor and addressed common myths and misconceptions associated with organ donation. The session was interactive, allowing students to ask questions and clarify their doubts.

The program was well-attended, with around 120 students participating actively. The response to the session was very encouraging, as 30 students took the pledge to donate their organs, reflecting their willingness to contribute to this life-saving cause. The awareness session not only increased understanding among students about the significance of organ donation but also motivated them to engage in social initiatives and community service.

Overall, the awareness session conducted by MOHAN Foundation at Sree Narayana Guru College of Commerce was highly successful in achieving its objective. It provided students with valuable knowledge, inspired them to pledge for organ donation, and strengthened the collaboration between educational institutions and organizations working to promote public health and social responsibility.
