On 22^nd December, 2013 an awareness talk on organ donation was organized by VEGA, Men Self Help Group, Maniyanthadam, Vazhakkulam as the part of VEGA men self help group  inauguration. The event was held at Dr. B R Ambedkar community hall, Maniyantham. VEGA’s members invited Mrithasanjeevani, Kerala Network for Organ Sharing (KNOS) to deliver a talk on Organ Donation. Programme started with welcome speech delivered by Mr. K C Aneesh, VEGA secretary and the programme was inaugurated by Mr. Jose Perimballikkunnel, Block Panchayath President, Vazhakkulam followed by Mr. P K Mohanan, VEGA president, Mr. Joy Maliyekkal, DKTF, State President and Mr. Tomy Gramapanchayath, Vice-president addressed the gathering.

Mr. Aneesh P. V, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, deputed to Mrithasanjeevani, Kerala, conducted the session on organ donation. The topics discussed during talk were: What is organ donation, importance of organ donation, types of donation, brain death, coma and natural death, procedures included in brain death donation, religious myths on organ donation, Mrithasanjeevani and KNOS registry,  importance of donor card. Later, Dr. Amarlal K,  of Public Heath Centre (PHC), Manjallor, delivered the talk on Heath awareness.

Around 100 members were participated in the programme. At the end, donor card distributed to the participants. The programme ended with vote of thanks rendered by Mr.  Soman K G, Treasurer VEGA.
