Organ Donation Awareness and Pledge Initiative at Vaishali Nagar, Nagpur |

On January 17, 2026, MOHAN Foundation organized an Organ Donation Awareness Session at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Garden, Vaishali Nagar, Nagpur, as part of its continued efforts to promote awareness about organ donation and transplantation at the community level. On behalf of MOHAN Foundation, Ms. Veena Wathore, Ms. Neha Sailwar and Mr. Dhiraj Kurve participated in the session. The programme aimed to educate community members about organ donation and address common doubts and misconceptions. The session was facilitated by Ms. Neha Sailwar, who introduced the concept of organ donation and explained key topics such as what organ donation is, the meaning of brain death, age limits for organ donation, and information related to body donation and cornea donation. She emphasized the importance of informed decision-making and discussing donation wishes with family members. Following this, Mr. Dhiraj Kurve spoke about the counselling process involved in organ donation and explained the role and responsibilities of a transplant coordinator, helping participants understand the ethical and procedural aspects of organ donation and transplantation. An interactive question-and-answer session was conducted, during which participants raised various queries related to organ donation, brain death, counselling, and the pledge process. All queries were addressed clearly by Ms. Neha Sailwar and Mr. Dhiraj Kurve. A total of 15 participants attended the session. MOHAN Foundation thanked Mr. Vijay Munghate for Organizing the session. During the programme, one participant came forward and took a pledge for body donation, reflecting the positive impact of the awareness activity. |
