MOHAN Foundation’s Documentary Screening at Doctoral Conclave, IIM–Nagpur

The Doctoral Conclave 2026, a three-day academic gathering held on January 9, 10, and 11, 2026, took place at the Academic Block (Ground Floor) of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Nagpur. The conclave brought together doctoral scholars and academicians from various states across India, offering a platform for intellectual exchange as well as social awareness initiatives.

On Jan. 10,2026 as part of the conclave’s special sessions, a screening of the National Award-winning documentary “God, Vulture & Human” (2023) was organized. The screening was preceded by an online introductory session conducted by Prof. Rajesh Chandwani of IIM Ahmedabad, who provided valuable insights into the background, production process, and social relevance of the documentary. His introduction helped participants understand the ethical, emotional, and societal dimensions of ‘Transplant coordinators’ working in the field of organ donation.

Approximately 60 delegates from different states attended the screening and actively engaged with the subject. Following the documentary, an interactive Question-and-Answer session was conducted to address participants’ reflections and queries.

The Q&A session was led by:

  • Ms. Veena Wathore, Project Manager, MOHAN Foundation – Nagpur
  • Ms. Manjiri Damle, Transplant Coordinator, Viveka Hospital, Nagpur
  • Ms. Shubhangi Pokle, Transplant Coordinator, Care Hospital, Nagpur

During the discussion, participants raised insightful questions such as:

  • What motivates grief counsellors to work in the field of organ donation and transplantation?
  • Why is pledging for organ donation important, even though organs can be donated without a prior pledge?
  • What is the difference between organ donation and body donation?

The panellists provided detailed explanations, shared real-life experiences, addressed common myths, and highlighted the life-saving impact of deceased organ donation. The discussion successfully cleared misconceptions and inspired participants to become advocates for organ donation awareness.

The documentary screening and interaction session created a strong emotional and educational impact on the delegates.
