On January 31, 2026 – The final day of January saw a vibrant and highly successful organ donation awareness session at the Zilla Parishad High School (Girls) in Manchal. Despite logistical hurdles and transportation challenges, the program was made possible by the school In-charge, who provided immediate permission and full support for this vital health initiative.

Project Manager Mr. Venkatesh Kattela led the PPT-based session, reaching a focused audience of 158 female students and faculty members from Classes 6 to 10.

The session moved beyond basic facts, diving into the medical and procedural nuances of saving lives through donation. The students showed remarkable curiosity, leading to a high-level discussion on:

• Brain Death Diagnosis: Providing a clear, medical explanation of how brain death is determined and how it differs from a coma or persistent vegetative state.
• The Toll-Free Helpline: Sharing the official contact details for the MOHAN Foundation helpline, ensuring students know where to turn for reliable information.
• Organ Retrieval Timelines: Understanding the window of opportunity for different organs.
• Consent and Family Communication: The importance of sharing one's decision with loved ones.

The atmosphere was electric with enthusiasm. When the time came to commit to the cause, the response was overwhelming. Several participants—both students and staff—enthusiastically took the pledge to donate their organs by raising their hands in a collective show of solidarity. The program concluded on a positive note, with 7 participants formally pledging to donate their organs.

The school leadership’s encouragement was instrumental in the success of the session, reinforcing that education in health and altruism is just as critical as academic learning.
