MOHAN Foundation Conducts Police Sensitisation Programme at MPTC

On January 7, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in association with Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), conducted a police sensitisation programme at the Manipur Police Training College (MPTC), Pangei, Imphal East. The programme was organized under the guidance of Prof. Kangjam Sholay Meitei, Urologist and Transplant Surgeon, JNIMS, with the support of Mrs. Victoria Yenkhom, IPS, Assistant Director, MPTC, and Mr. P. Noren Singh, MPS, Assistant Commandant, MPTC.

 

The session was conducted by Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator (Northeast) and Project Lead, Manipur, along with Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive; Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive; and Mrs. Leimapokpam Ranjita Devi, Nursing Sister, JNIMS and National Florence Nightingale Awardee 2025. The programme was coordinated by Mr. A. Devananda Singh, MPS, Additional Superintendent of Police (Adjutant), MPTC.

 

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Devananda, who shared a real-life experience of creating a green corridor from JNIMS to Shija Hospital and appreciated the coordinated efforts of all stakeholders involved. This was followed by a brief introduction of the resource team and the objectives of the programme by Mr. Bidyananda.

 

A key highlight of the session was the release of the poster, “Flow Chart of Organ Donation Process in Medico-Legal Cases,” by Mr. Devananda, Ms. Monica, and Mrs. Ranjita. The release marked an important step toward streamlining and standardizing procedures related to organ donation in medico-legal cases.

 

Ms. Monica then delivered a comprehensive presentation on organ donation, with special emphasis on the role of the police in medico-legal cases. Her session covered types of organ donation, relevant laws, the concept of brain death, police responsibilities, required documentation, the process of family consent, and clarification of common myths related to organ donation.

 

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Rai Kumar, Subedar, MPTC.

Information pamphlets and MLC flow charts were distributed among the participants.

 

Approximately 100 police officials and trainees attended the programme, which was highly interactive and informative. Notably, five officials pledged to donate their organs, reflecting the positive impact and success of the sensitisation programme.
