On January 8, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Kshetrigao, Imphal East, Manipur. The session was facilitated by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive, along with Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.

The program was organised as part of the UPHC’s immunization initiative and was coordinated with Mrs. Premlata, Nurse In-Charge, who actively participated in the session.

Ms. Priya initiated the session by introducing the team and led an informative and interactive discussion on the concept and types of organ donation. She explained the provisions of the Transplantation of Human Organs Act (THOA) 1994, emphasizing that the buying and selling of human organs is a punishable offense under the law. She further highlighted that a single act of organ donation has the potential to save up to eight lives.

In addition, she addressed and dispelled common religious myths related to organ donation, clarifying that no major religion opposes the practice.

The session concluded with appreciation for the participants’ time and active engagement. Informational pamphlets on organ donation were distributed for further reference. Approximately 15 participants attended the session, reinforcing the importance of continued awareness-building initiatives in strengthening the organ donation movement.
