Awareness Program by MOHAN Foundation on the Role of Police in Organ Donation at Lefunga Police Station, West Tripura |

On January 24, 2026, MOHAN Foundation organized an awareness program on the role of police in organ donation at Lefunga Police Station, West Tripura. The program was conducted for police personnel with the objective of enhancing awareness about organ donation and transplantation.
The session was led by Mr. Vincent Debbarma, Project Lead, Tripura. Ms. Nipa Modak, Program Executive, Tripura accompanied him.
During the session, Mr. Debbarma explained the significance of organ donation, the different types of organ and tissue donations, and the life-saving impact a single donor can have by helping multiple patients. The discussion focused on addressing common myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation and encouraged participants to actively support and promote awareness of this noble cause.
He also highlighted the crucial role played by the police in the organ donation process, especially in medico-legal cases where timely coordination and support are essential. To strengthen legal understanding, Mr. Debbarma explained the provisions of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 1994. This helped participants gain clarity on the laws and regulations formulated by the Government of India.
In addition, the step-by-step process of organ donation was explained to ensure better understanding among the participants. Organ donation awareness leaflets were distributed to reinforce key messages shared during the session.
The program was attended by six police personnel.
