MOHAN Foundation Conducts Organ Donation Awareness Talk at JNIMS OPD |

On January 6, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the General Outpatient Department (OPD) of JNIMS as part of its ongoing public education initiatives.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Programme Executive, along with Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Programme Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.
Ms. Priya Devi began the session with an introduction of the MOHAN Foundation team, followed by a comprehensive overview of the fundamental aspects of organ donation. She covered key topics including the concept of organ donation, organs eligible for donation, and the distinction between living donor and deceased donor donation. She further elaborated on deceased organ donation, emphasising that organs retrieved from brain-dead individuals have the potential to save multiple lives and significantly improve the quality of life of recipients.
Ms. Priya also stressed that the commercial trade of organs is a legally punishable offence and addressed common myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation.
At the conclusion of the session, participants were encouraged to consider registering as organ donors and to communicate their decision to their family members. Informational pamphlets were distributed to support further understanding.
Approximately 25 individuals attended the session and gained valuable insights into the life-transforming impact of organ donation.
