Palghar District Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar Pledges for Eye Donation |
|
In a significant and inspiring development, Hon’ble District Collector and District Magistrate, Palghar, Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar, pledged for eye donation during the inauguration ceremony of Kotak Life Insurance’s initiative “Project MahaDrishti” mobile vans, held on 30 December 2025 in Palghar, where she was invited as the Chief Guest.
During the programme, Mr. Nikhil Nagarkar briefed the Hon’ble Collector about the importance of eye donation and shared details of the ongoing efforts being undertaken to create mass awareness on eye donation across Palghar district, particularly in rural and tribal areas. The initiatives focus on spreading accurate information, dispelling myths, and encouraging citizens to voluntarily pledge for eye donation.
Dr. Jakhar, the first woman District Collector of Palghar, appreciated the eye donation awareness efforts and voluntarily took the pledge, underlining the role of informed leadership in promoting humanitarian causes. Eye donation can restore vision to individuals suffering from corneal blindness, with one donor having the potential to give sight to two people.
As a mark of appreciation for her initiative and support towards this noble cause, a token of appreciation was presented to the Hon’ble Collector by Mr. Nikhil Nagarkar. Mr. Pawan Soni and Ms. Neeta Singh from Kotak Life Insurance, along with Ms. Prachiti Mali, Palghar representative, were also present on the occasion.
The pledge taken by Dr. Jakhar is expected to inspire citizens, officials, and youth across the district to consider eye donation as a meaningful social responsibility. The organizers reaffirmed their commitment to continue eye donation awareness initiatives across Palghar district to build a more informed, compassionate, and sight-enabled society. |
